Over three decades, Khalid Muhammad AlZubair has guided some of Oman's most significant enterprises, shaped throughout by a conviction that lasting value is created by backing the right people, thinking long term, and embracing innovation ahead of the curve.

As Chairman of Ominvest, Oman's largest investment holding company, he provided strategic direction and governance through a period of significant growth and diversification across insurance, banking, real estate and technology — broadening the group's international reach and reinforcing its standing as a benchmark for disciplined, long-term value creation.

As Chairman of Liva Insurance Group, he served as a strategic force and catalyst for the platform's expansion into one of the GCC's largest multi-line insurers. Earlier, as Managing Director of The Zubair Corporation, he led the expansion of a diversified multinational group into global markets, directing major projects and strategic initiatives across the region.

He serves today as Founder of Daem Ventures, his private investment company and family office, and as Co-Founder and Chairman of Thawani Technologies, Oman's first Central Bank–licensed fintech, operating Oman's leading digital payment platform for consumers, merchants, and government services — now a cornerstone of Oman's digital payments infrastructure.

An active angel investor in technology ventures internationally, he remains a consistent advocate for innovation and entrepreneurship as engines of economic diversification. A regular participant at the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting in Davos for many years, he also contributes to its governors and investors meetings, engaging with global leaders on the issues shaping the future of business.

A Defining National Contribution — Sport

The first elected Chairman of the Oman Olympic Committee for 2013–2018, elected again for 2021–2024, and a former member of the International Olympic Committee, Khalid has shaped Omani sport at its highest levels. Across the Oman Tennis Association, Ahli Sidab Club, and the Arab Swimming Confederation — where he serves as Honorary President — his leadership has advanced national teams and athletes to new competitive heights and strengthened the institutions behind them. He has also served on the Executive Council of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees.

Community & Nation Building

Khalid chairs INJAZ Oman, under whose leadership more than 500,000 young Omanis have been trained in entrepreneurial and business skills — including the flagship Student Company Programme — and founded the Zubair Small Enterprise Centre to nurture homegrown entrepreneurs.

He has served as Vice Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, chairing its Tourism and SME committees and bilateral business councils, including the Oman–Turkey and Oman–Iran Businessmen Councils. He also contributed to Oman's WTO accession negotiations and national five-year development planning, placing the private sector at the heart of the country's growth agenda.

Further national service includes membership of the Education Council, the board of the Omani Centre for Investment Promotion and Export Development, the Omanization Committee for the communications sector, and leadership of official business delegations representing Oman's private sector abroad.
